Clonee, a commuter village in County Meath, lies next to the border with Dublin and is approximately 14 kilometres from Dublin city centre. The current population is more than 800, a 30% increase from the 2011 census, testifying to its growth as a commuter hub for people working in Dublin city and county. Clonee is an attractive residential area due to its excellent transport connections (Dublin Bus and Bus Éireann serve multiple routes to and from the village) and it is just off the M3/N3, with the M50, N2 and N4 also nearby. Dublin Airport is within a 20-minute drive and the village is ideally located for rail commuters, with Dunboyne, M3 Parkway, Hansfield, Clonsilla and Coolmine stations all nearby. There are several schools in the Clonee area, including primary and secondary schools, as well as Dunboyne College of Further Education. Clonee has a choice of supermarkets that includes Lidl and Aldi, while Blanchardstown Shopping Centre is within a five-minute drive. The area is home to the headquarters of food processing company Kepak, an employer of more than 2,000 people across Ireland and the UK with a turnover exceeding €500 million.
